We're Looking for Your Help!
Whispering River Music is a non-profit organization intent on fostering creative experiences within communities. Our mission has always been to provide these experiences to any members of the community wishing to participate, regardless of financial availability. As such, we are always looking for Donors willing to support our various programs. From things like Scholarships for children to attend our String Pals Day Camp, to support helping us purchase our own space of operation, any Donations are greatly appreciated and are eligible to receive a charitable tax receipt.
Thank you so much for all of your support!
Weekly String Classes
Our Weekly String Classes provide lessons to a number of students, ranging in age from approximately 7 to 70 years old and spanning all levels of skill. Beginner or advanced player, young or old, our weekly classes provide a safe space to develop and refine your skills on a stringed instrument.
String Pals invites community members, young and old, to join us in a one-on-one learning and teaching experience. Beginners are paired up with a more experienced "String Pal" to work with them throughout the weeks as they learn to play their new instrument in a friendly and encouraging environment.
Bert Weir Memorial Music Commission
An annual commission for a Canadian music composition for the
Whispering River Orchestra that is inspired by artwork from a northern artist.
Bert Weir created art to music throughout his entire career. Inspired by northern landscapes and music, improvised and composed, his paintings portray a musical line that haunts the soul. Bert especially appreciated music that echoed his deep and passionate connection with nature,
The commission will be given to composers who display these qualities in their work and who innovatively explore the interface between music and art.
Building Fund Donations
Recently we've started a campaign to find our own operating space. As a small organization we are often looking for appropriate venues in which to host our programs and concerts. Although we maintain healthy relationships with the venues available to us, our organization has grown to the point of needing our own building to operate programs out of full time, Any Building Fund Donations go towards the costs of purchasing our own space when an appropriate space becomes available.
We appreciate any extra support you'd like to provide.
